Just a block shy of the center of downtown, the local tourist group has refurbished and renovated what is locally known as "The Old Jail." The turn-of-the-century building was saved from eventual decay, but the tourist group wisely left the basement jail very much as it was back in the 1900's. It consists of two jail cells made up of a foundation of creek rock and a plain earthen floor. Graffiti from former prisoners still adorn the walls. It looks very much like the kind of place that would have housed Hannibal Lecter. Exceedingly creepy, the tourist group uses the dungeon for a very effective haunted house every Halloween.
