Horses at the Starting Gate
An interesting outdoor sculpture was dedicated on September 17, 2021. It's titled "And They're Off" and is on the former site of Beulah Park, Ohio's first thoroughbred racetrack, which was open from 1923 to 2014. The track was demolished in 2018 and the property is now condos and houses. The sculpture, which depicts horses leaving a starting gate, was created by local artist Craig Murdick, who's also involved in the design and construction of many of the buildings now occupying the site. The horses are a little larger than life, and the entire sculpture is about 20 feet tall, weighs about six tons, and contains over 150 pieces of steel.
