This unlit, single-lane, claustrophobic and terrifying tunnel is the main road in and out of Dingess.

- Old N and W Railroad Bed Rd, Dingess, WV
- Directions:
- From the US 52/119 split on the Kentucky/West Virginia state line, drive east on US-119 N. for 4.5 miles. Make a sharp left onto WV-65 N. Drive 3.5 miles. Turn right onto Old N and W Railroad Bed Rd and drive 10 miles to the tunnel.

The tunnel was originally dug for a railroad line in 1892. Local lore states that "hundreds" of people -- unwelcome outsiders -- were shot and killed by locals as they exited the tunnel. It became a traffic tunnel in 1913. Seven miles west is the similarly claustrophobic Breeden Tunnel.
