Appleton, Wisconsin: Large Tether Ball
Attached to an outdoor light pole, out of reach of puny humans, a huge tether ball has been waiting since 2007 for some Titans to show up and play.
- Address:
- 812 S. Olde Onieda St., Appleton, WI
- Directions:
- From downtown drive south on S. Onieda St. Cross the bridge, then turn left (east) at the stoplight onto S. Olde Onieda St. Drive across the metal-decked canal bridge. The tether ball will be on the right, just before the train tracks. It's hard to spot in the warm weather because it's hidden behind leafy trees.

The huge tether ball is attached by a chain to a light pole next to a bar. Only a giant could reach this ball, much less get it to fly around the pole. There's no signage explaining who put it up or why.
