Former astronaut and senator John Glenn was born in Cambridge but grew up about ten miles west in New Concord. Since he was born in Cambridge, a statue of him has been installed in downtown Cambridge in front of the Scottish Rite Masonic Hall. The statue has Glenn wearing his astronaut suit, holding his helmet with his left hand, pointing up to the sky with his right hand.

This was always a temporary location for the statue, on loan from the sculptor. The town hopes to buy it and place it permanently across the street at the post office, or down the block at the county courthouse.
