Picturesque roadside ruin of a 1740 church that survived both the Revolutionary and Civil Wars unscathed, but was gutted by an 1886 forest fire.

- From Beaufort drive west on US-21/Sea Island Pkwy for six miles. Turn right at the stoplight onto MLK Drive/State Rd S-7-45. Drive south for 1.5 miles. You'll see a pull-off and the church ruins on the left.

Built in 1740 with impressive foot-thick walls, this small chapel was sized and located as a convenient place of worship with the larger churches all being farther away. The ruins of this Chapel of Ease still stand.
