Created by local artist Fernando Lozano in July 2020, "Discovery Pencil" is made of real wood, and has buried its point into an anchoring, flat concrete map of the globe, roughly in the Amazon rainforest.

Created by local artist Fernando Lozano in July 2020. The pencil in "Discovery Pencil" is made of real wood, and there's no significance to it impaling Venezuela. Perhaps an unintended symbol of carbon reclamation? At the unveiling, Lozano said that he just wanted to give his hometown a piece of fun public art, and convey that at a library "the world is at your feet."
