A 1987 replica of a 1928 monument that marks the spot where the brothers built their first glider -- apparently in a garage -- used to test their flight theories before they built their successful airplane.

- From US-158/N. Croatan Hwy turn east at the stoplight onto Kitty Hawk Rd. Drive a half-mile. Turn left (no stoplight) onto Moor Shore Rd. Drive about 100 yards. You'll see the monument on the right, in someone's front yard.

This is a 1987 replica of the original 1928 monument dedicated to the Wright Brothers first glider build in Kitty Hawk. While it is near the road, it also is in someone's front yard. A nice to start to one's Wright Brothers Outer Banks tour.
