Nilwood, Illinois: Turkey Tracks on Route 66
When this tiny rural road, later to become an original part of Route 66, was paved between 1920 and 1922, a turkey walked in the wet cement. A white box has been painted around the 34 historical turkey tracks, and a wooden turkey cutout marks the entry spot.

- 26618-27306 Donaldson Rd, Nilwood, IL
- Directions:
- From Nilwood drive south on IL-4 for about three miles. Turn left (no stoplight) onto Donaldson Rd, then immediately bear right to continue heading south. Drive a third of a mile. You'll see a white box painted on the left side of the road, enclosing the turkey tracks.
