Iron silhouettes of 15 wild horses galloping along a bluff above the Columbia River. Officially titled, "Grandfather Cuts Loose the Ponies," they were sculpted by David Govedare in 1989.

Just past Vantage, across the Columbia River east on I-90, you will notice a large herd of metal stallions up on the hills above. There is a rest stop, where you can read about the reason for the stallions, and a trail where you can walk up and look at them. Considering it was 95 degrees that day, we decided not to do that. Also this area is rattlesnake country, so hike with caution.
