The sub is not docked at Pier 48 anymore. Apparently it has been moved to the San Diego, CA Maritime museum.
[Larry Brady, 04/06/2008]The Cobra is an old Soviet diesel submarine moored at pier 48 in Seattle (a short walk from Ye Olde Curiosity Shoppe, the Seattle Aquarium and Pike Place Market). It's interesting touring the sub itself, but what makes it amusing is the pre-recorded narration provided by someone who sounds like a cross between Boris Badinoff and Bela Lugosi. Some of the informational signs are surprisingly un-PC for this day and age-- for example they compare the breeding habits of shipboard cockroaches to those of the Chinese. There's also fun to be had imagining what catastrophe might occur if you ignored the many signs instructing you not to touch any of the dials or switches as "many are still operational."
