This is the remains of the most sophisticated prehistoric Indian civilization north of Mexico. There are 69 remaining man-made earthen mounds and a wooden sun calendar. An Interpretive Center tells about the culture and city once located there. There are events and activities that demonstrate the Indian culture. The largest mound, Monks Mound, can be seen from Interstate-55/70.
