A life-size wooden carving of Rip -- who emerged from his 20-year slumber in the hills above Catskill -- stood in the center of the town's Main Street for many years. It was replaced by this near-identical fiberglass statue in 2019.

I visited this attraction in April 2023 and the statue was not there. I asked a local business and they told me that it is taken away and stored during the winter months. It is placed back for viewing by Memorial Day.

A statue of Rip Van Winkle from the children's book of the same name by Washington Irving. It was first published in 1819. The large statue is located the middle of Main Street in downtown Catskill. There is also a bridge by the same name in the town.
