Petrified Forest

Petrified Forest is a six block nature walk. The tour is self-guided but easy to understand. Ideal for anyone with even the slightest interest in nature or earth history. And it has a kicking gift shop. Ideal for any family or science class field trip.

Mississippi Petrified Forest

The Mississippi Petrified Forest was a nice nature walk, even though it was more like a few petrified logs mixed in with the forest. The kids had fun panning for gems. It was a nice get-out-of-the-house trip.

Mississippi Petrified Forest

A fun trip. Suggest going on a nice cool day for walking. My parents took me in very late '60s and I have taken 2 of my 3 daughters. Hope to take the 3rd this spring. Noticed on last visit they had added some RV parking. Old sign in '60s had woody woodpeckers head on it.

Mississippi Petrified Forest

This is the only petrified forest east of the Mississippi River. It consists of a walking trail where you can see numerous petrified tree trunks as well as the awe-inspiring "Sand Wall." There is also a museum which has a black light rock exhibit. Check out the wildcat cage in the parking area and the wild kangaroo behind the museum.
