Small bronze version of "Miss Fancy," an elephant that lived at Birmingham's zoo until 1934. The statue was hit by a drunk driver in 2013. In storage for eight years before it was repaired and returned in June 2021.

Miss Fancy

This statue in Birmingham's Avondale Park is a tribute to Miss Fancy (1871-1954), a large, gentle Indian elephant that served as the star attraction at the Avondale Zoo, Birmingham's first public zoo, from 1913 to 1934.

The small bronze statue, "Little Miss Fancy," was hit by a drunk driver in 2013 and was in storage for eight years before it was repaired and returned in June 2021. When the fountain is turned on, the elephant sprays water from her trunk.
