Laramie, Wyoming: Big Twig Head

Open-mouthed 13.5-foot-high head -- vaguely resembling Lon Chaney Jr's wolf man -- is made from cottonwood bark. The artist describes the head as "giving a voice to nature" and "will eventually dissolve and return to the earth."

Big Twig Head

13.5-foot-high head is made from cottonwood bark.

[Nettie, 08/04/2022]

"Exhaling Dissolution" was built of cottonwood bark gathered from fallen trees destroyed in a storm. Artist Sarah Deppe said that the head is "giving a voice to nature" and (like most bark and twig outdoor sculptures) "will eventually dissolve and return to the earth."
