Laramie, Wyoming: Big Twig Head (Gone)

Open-mouthed 13.5-foot-high head -- vaguely resembling Lon Chaney Jr's wolf man -- was made from cottonwood bark. The artist described the head as "giving a voice to nature" and said it would "eventually dissolve and return to the earth."

West edge of the city, at the corner of Snowy Range Rd and Clark St.

The artist who built the Twig Head said it would "eventually dissolve and return to the earth." Guess she was right.

"Exhaling Dissolution" was built of cottonwood bark gathered from fallen trees destroyed in a storm. Artist Sarah Deppe said that the head is "giving a voice to nature" and (like most bark and twig outdoor sculptures) "will eventually dissolve and return to the earth."
