Rio Nido Pee Wee Golf was built in 1948 as part of the local miniature golf craze on the Russian River (There were originally five mini-golf courses in this northern California resort area). It was built by the same family who created the Pee Wee Golf in Guerneville, but smaller (18 holes vs. 36).
The property was donated to the Rio Nido Homeowners in the 1970s. It continues to be volunteer-run throughout the summer season on Friday and Saturday nights. The course is still original, and there is a vintage sign with the sign maker's date of 1948, and a snack shop with ice cream, candy, popcorn, soda, and free pinball, air hockey, and foosball.
