The owner told me that when the Indian was moved to Native Brews Tap & Grill in 2021, the headdress was in bad shape. The Cherokee don't use the full headdress anyway, so she had a single feather installed when he was refurbished. That feather has since been damaged in a storm, but it will get replaced.
She told me that 50 years ago three Indian Chief statues were in town. One of the others ended up in Asheville, and she does not know where the other one went. And the food and beers are great.

[Kat Linski, 09/10/2021]The building that he stood in front of was demolished, and none of the local residents I spoke with could tell me where the Muffler Man had been moved to.
[Dwight, 10/30/2020]The Indian was moved into storage in 2019. He may eventually end up somewhere other than Cherokee.
This Indian is gone. The tattoo parlor is closed, looks abandoned. I didn't see it anywhere else in the town, but I didn't get off Paint Town Road to look for it.

Still standing tall and proud even though he is being held hostage by a run-down Cherokee tattoo parlor. While you are there, take a picture of your kids riding the two fiberglass horses that evidently were once painted white.
