There's a large cow statue on side of Rt 68 south of Clarion in Sligo.
[Mike G, 07/31/2010]Definitely a large cow, could be bigger. Easy photo-op off 80, just past Reidsburg.
[Nadia, 05/28/2010]The giant cow on Rte. 68 near Clarion has been there since the mid '70s. My family owned and operated a successful dairy, George Farms Inc., off Rte. 68 in Rimersburg (We pasteurized and homogenized the milk on the premises and customers brought in empty milk bottles that were filled while they waited). The Over family opened a business at the "Big Cow" location, about 11 miles from us, to compete with ours. I think they lasted about 6 months before they closed the business, but the cow has been there ever since.
My family retired the dairy business after 26 years in 1986 (we didn't have a big cow, but "George Farms" was spelled out in flowers on the grassy bank in front of our store every summer, and I had to weed and trim them every week!). I live in CA and I was back to see my parents last summer (my 82 year old father still makes his own hay for the beef cattle he now has)and I saw the cow is still there and looking good after all these years!

It's hard to tell, but the "Towering Cow" in Orrville, Ohio bears a strong resemblance to a giant cow I pass about once a week on Pennsylvania Rte 68 a few miles south of Clarion, PA. It's in front of a dairy farm along that rural stretch of road. I have been traveling that stretch of road for the past three years and that cow has always been there, so the timetable for the disappearance of the Orrville cow does not seem to coincide.
