Bat Tornado at Dusk

Make sure you get your Permit before going! We were not told and subsequently were not able to see the bats. Very disappointing.

Bat Tornado at Dusk

Was here towards the end of July. They estimate just over 1 million bats present, mostly males as the females have relocated to have their pups. Truly something to see in person.

Get there really early if you want a front and center seat... but the top viewing area has a beautiful view too!

Bats are only visible from May til end of Oct! It's gorgeous here though! Call the "Emergence Times" phone number (866-978-2287) before you go to see if bats are visible!

Bat Tornado at Dusk

An old railroad tunnel that ran between Fredericksburg and Boerne is now inhabited by thousands and thousands of bats....that come out at nightfall...kinda like a bat tornado. Interesting aroma to boot. There is no charge to view, though donations accepted. I have lived in Boerne for seven years and just saw this a month or two ago.
