Pecos, Texas: Pecos Bill Twister Statue (In Transition)
Bronze statue of the Southwest's answer to Paul Bunyan. Pecos, holding onto his cowboy hat, bronco busts a Texas tornado he lassoed with his rattlesnake. Knocked over by a derailed train in Dec. 2024; the town has vowed to put it back up.
West of the Pecos Museum
- Directions:
- I-20 exit 42. Turn north onto US-285/Cedar St. Drive two miles. Turn left (no stoplight) onto E. 1st St. just past the West of the Pecos Museum. Pull into the parking lot on the right; you'll see the statue just past the archway.

The Pecos Bill statue was gone and the building behind it was destroyed. I tried to find out where it was by asking someone at the gas station, but they didn't even know it was gone. The West of the Pecos Museum was closed so I couldn't ask anyone there.

Fun statue. Has easy access, parking lot right next to it. Near a pair of giant boots, at the West of the Pecos Museum and Texas Rodeo Hall of Fame.
