The turned-over car on Route 1 at Edison Generator Exchange was at my father John Chemidlin's shop. Possibly 1968 is when he purchased that garage (He was also involved in dirt track racing for 50-plus years). He was the one who came up with the sign that read, "Does Your Car Turn Over In The Morning?" since it was a generator, starter, and alternator shop. Sadly, he passed away on June 16, 2019. He was a great father to three daughters and grandfather of eight. We all miss him so much. That car was a landmark for decades. The township made us remove it.

6-8 years ago the original up-side-down vehicle collapsed and a new version was put in its place at Edison Generator. "Does Your Car Turn Over in the Morning?"
[Jennifer Weaver, 07/24/2007]The front of Edison Generator, an auto ignition specialist on the southbound side of Route 1 in Edison, NJ, sports a tiny coupe of some kind (the size of those Minis you see everywhere these days) standing upside-down on its roof, with a sign overhead asking "Does your car turn over in the morning?" It's been there since I was a kid, at least twenty years, and I still look forward to seeing that it's still there on my periodic trips to the area.
