According to local lore, a young woman was killed near this railroad overpass during the 1920s. Lydia (always wearing a white dress) shows up on dark, rainy nights and flags down passing drivers to ask for assistance getting home. A driver will pull over and then, sometime during the encounter, Lydia will vanish. Witnesses swear it has happened.
A new historical marker (2023) recounts this long-standing state legend.
