Amarillo, Texas: The Big Gun
An all-black, slightly misshapen six-shooter built out of used oil tanks by Darrel Podzemny in 2023. He named it "The Big Gun."

- Northwest edge of the city. Exit TX-335 onto TX-1719/Western St. Turn north, then make first left (no stoplight) onto Cliffside Rd. Drive a half-mile. You'll see the gun on the right, on the northwest corner of Cliffside Rd and Quarry St.

A little bit out of the way -- not all the prettiest background -- but when you get out of the car, it's so peaceful and quiet. It's Texas, baby.

This was a little off the main Interstate 40, but we thought it was fun. There was a big bike too, but a bit farther walk. We parked alongside the road and stepped over a small fence to get up to the sculpture. There weren't signs that said to keep out, so we went in. It was very large, so I needed someone to stand by it to give the photo perspective. We thought it was worth the detour and heading west to the Muffler Man Cowboy was easy from here!

This is slightly off the beaten path. The gun is huge. It's on a quiet road with a turn-out for parking, if you don't mind parking on a rutted patch of dirt. The gun is pointing in the direction of a large bicycle, so make sure you turn around.
