Staunton, Illinois: Henry's Ra66it Ranch

Many outdoor photo-ops including a replica old-time gas station, a nod to Cadillac Ranch in Texas, and a large saddled jackrabbit photo-op. They've been done elsewhere, but live bunnies hopping around is a unique touch.

Henry's Ra66it Ranch

The owner is a funny guy. Lots of Route 66 memorabilia. Bunnies are inside in cages. No bunnies hopping around.

Yep, stopped there on our Route 66 trip. Not bad -- mostly junk -- but this is why you do 66!

Henry's Ra66it Ranch

Henry's is a quirky roadside attraction on Historic Route 66. There's a replica Cadillac Ranch using VW Rabbits, and a nine foot tall fiberglass bunny you can sit on.

It all centers around a nostalgic, recreated old tyme gas station, serving as a Route 66 info center/souvenir gift shop. Also, live tame bunnies (31 at present) hopping around the property. Have two real Campbell 66 Express 18 wheelers. Kids of all ages from 1-100 get their kicks at it.

Have a bunny named Montana, who greets the travelers and autographs postcards for them. She is featured in several 66 travel books along with Henry. We have been hare since 1995.

Henry and Snot the Bunny.

Henry drove Route 66 and came back determined to create his own roadside attraction. And he likes rabbits.

Henry's Route 66 Rabbit Ranch

My wife and I drove down old Route 66 from Dwight, IL to St. Louis MO a few weeks back and saw this place on the side of the road. The owner has some caged rabbits on the premises. He also collects old Volkswagen Rabbits. He says he intends to do something with the cars similar to the Cadillac Ranch at some point.

The gift shop looks like an old gas station and has several vintage gas pumps in front. There are also two old semi trucks on premises that have the pic of the 66 Camel with the "Humpin to Please" phrase on them. The owner is very talkative and knowledgeable about old Route 66. And uses his place to educate people about the history of Route 66. The ranch is dubbed the "historic Route 66 tourist information center." It is closed on Sundays, but the owner opened up for us since he saw we were outside looking around. Very nice man.
