Officer Down Memorial

A monument was dedicated in 2009 to fallen police officers. The sculpture was made by artist Michael Jernigan and is in the courtyard west of the old capitol building and east of the newer capitol tower. The sculpture depicts an officer who has been shot, being comforted by another officer speaking into a walkie-talkie. A small maquette of the sculpture is also located nearby.

A small plaque notes, "Inside the male Officer Down sculpture are time capsules."
