1822 jail with barred windows and two-foot-thick rock walls. Inside is a museum with rattlesnake rattles, jailhouse relics, and mementoes of U.S. Vice-President Hannibal Hamlin, South Paris's most famous resident.

- Hamlin Memorial Library and Museum. Drive north out of town on ME-26, then bear right (no stoplight) onto Paris Hill Rd. Drive two miles. Turn left (no stoplight) onto Hannibal Hamlin Drive. The jail will be ahead on the left.
