Frontier Relics Museum

I just spoke to the wife of the owner and she said he passed away in August. The museum is unfortunately closed and she said she isn't planning on opening it up again. Maybe later, but right now she said it's too soon...

Frontier Relics Museum

Orville Mickins is one of those interesting characters you don't meet every day. He's in his 80's and has lived his life hiking the hills and deserts of Arizona. His Museum in his garage is the result of his adventures. He does have some old and interesting stuff. The oldest is a brass stirrup from the horse of a Spaniard along with a very badly rusted sword found with it.

To get there take 186 south out of Wilcox to the foothills of the Dos Cabezas mountains. Keep and eye out on the east side of the road for the sign. The following instructions are as given to me by an elderly gentlman in Wilcox. "As long as the gate to his place is open just disregard the closed sign. Pull in his parking area and honk, Orville will come out and open up for you." He's a tall, mild mannered fellow and will give a talk after he gets warmed up a little. Orville has a big pickle jar for donations inside the door of his garage. This is worth a stop and Orville himself claims to be world renowned, although I had never heard of him before visiting Willcox.
