Wigwam Village Motel #7

I have stayed there a couple of times over the past few years, and I thought the place was great. They have nicely manicured grounds, and the staff was very friendly. The bathrooms still have the colored vintage 1950's tiles! I love that the rooms are circular, but they are small (obviously). In our current landscape, where the past is largely ignored or torn down, it's great to see this unique slice of Americana operating and preserved so well.

Brown begone! The owner of the Wigwam Motel in Rialto is scraping off the dun-colored paint that's covered the wigwams for the past few years. Reportedly he wants his motel listed on the National Register of Historic Places, so he's painting the wigwams to match the color schemes of the other Wigwam Motels in Arizona and Kentucky: cream-colored with a red zig-zag lines around the middle, red trim on the windows, and yellow support poles. The paint job is expected to be complete by mid-September 2011. Even if it doesn't impress the NRHP, it will make better looking wigwams.

Wigwam Village Motel #7

We just stayed at the Wigwam motel, and the grounds are great. It's quaint sitting by the pool and grass area, the rooms are clean, and our 9 year old thought it was totally cool. It felt like when I was a kid, staying at motels that had great grass areas, just family-style settings. I wouldn't rate the rooms a four star, but for something to do just for fun on Route 66, it's fun.
