Bob Dole's Grave
Bob Dole was a World War II veteran who entered politics and rose to be the Senate majority leader. In 1976 he ran to be vice president under Gerald Ford on the Republican ticket, but Ford-Dole was defeated by Carter-Mondale. Two decades later, in 1998, Dole ran for president atop the Republican ticket, but was defeated by incumbent Bill Clinton. Dole died in 2021 and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery, quite close to another unsuccessful presidential candidate, William Jennings Bryan.
