Winter Haven, Florida: Cypress Gardens - Classic (Gone)

Your review for Cypress Gardens really does not do this venerable Florida attraction justice. The park is now Cypress Gardens Adventure Park and is a real treasure that has been renewed for the new generation of guests. Over 50 rides have been built, new shows added, not to mention a water park which all have been added to the already legendary botanical gardens and renowed water ski show. It is an awesome venue for families, with very affordable prices and much shorter lines than the neighboring mega-attractions in Orlando.

Hard times continue for Cypress Gardens, a 70-year-old theme park in Winter Haven, Florida.

It's open! It's great -- lots of new rides; the water park is to open this summer. Almost all of the botanical gardens have remained after being closed and then last year's hurricane -- and they are beautiful. The water ski show still needs some work, but not much. They even brought back the oldies concerts!

A classic tourist attraction on the comeback trail suffered a setback by the name of Hurricane Charley. The eye of that storm passed over Cypress Gardens in August....

An offer from the owner of a Georgia amusement park may be the only viable solution to saving venerable Cypress Gardens, which abruptly closed in April, 2003. But it may require the savior to graft modern roller coasters and thrill rides onto the Winter Haven, Florida attraction....
