Longhorn Skull

The Longhorn Skull -- 37 miles south of Tucson.

[Jeff Thisted, 02/26/2020]

The skull has served as a doorway for a number of businesses over the years, none as enduring as the skull itself, which was built by Michael Kautza in the early 1970s.

Restaurant Shaped like a Longhorn Skull

Closed, went to auction, up for sale. The good news: cross the street and have a great meal and a great experience at The Cow Palace!

Restaurant Shaped Like a Cow Skull

The restaurant is no longer a spaghetti restaurant -- it's actually a great restaurant that has (still spaghetti and pizza, but more so hamburgers, steak, shrimp, Mexican food, specials everyday, great cocktails). There's no real good restaurant around between Tuscon and border at all; this is it if you want to stop and eat well!

The Longhorn was one of the locations in the film "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore" by Martin Scorsese (1974) and if you stand in front of the restaurant, the street you look into was a location for "The Postmen" by Kevin Costner (1997)!
