The sculpture is a stainless steel sphere overtopped by curved stainless steel wings. It is located on the Mississippi River levee in downtown Baton Rouge. The sculpture is lighted so it is visible at night, and the sculpture is connected to sensors which detect the Mississippi River's water level. Changing water levels detected by the sensors make the sculpture give off different tones, hence the sculpture's name: "Sing The River."
