Haines Junction, Yukon Ter., Canada: Animal Cupcake

Officially the Haines Junction Village Square Monument, it's a 1980s full-color sculpture of animals jutting out of a dollop of a mountaintop surrounded by a ribbed circular fence. Its nickname is clear the minute you see it.

Haines Junction Village Square Monument

The highlight of Haines Junction beautification project of 1987-88. The monument was conceptually designed by Yukon artist Chris Caldwell, and was constructed by Yukon sculptors Chuck Buchanan and Ron Bat. The monument depicts the relationship between the mountains and the wildlife of the Kluane region.
