This unique statue of the legendary Polish astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus was erected by the Kopernik Memorial Association of Utica's Polish Community Club in the 20th century. It was intended to honor both Copernicus's legacy and the Polish heritage of Utica.

Sculpted in Warsaw by Bohdan Chmielski. It was supposed to commemorate Copernicus's 500th birthday in 1973, but it didn't arrive in Utica until 1975.
