Murderous Ghoul Ed Gein's Grave

Pictures of the Gein family gravestones, plus his second victim, Bernice C. Worden. These were taken [by me] on August 13, 1991, before Ed's gravestone was stolen.

Ed Gein's Cemetery

The Gein headstones are easy to find. Enter the cemetery at the first entrance along the tree line. Go to the third crossroad, turn left, and look for the headstone engraved Tibbets. Stop, look left, and you will see the back of the Gein family headstones. While I was there it was kind of spooky, and the door to the cemetery supplies opened by itself. Boo.

Infamous cannibal Ed Gein still manages to creep out (yet attract) visitors over 50 years after his gruesome crimes were discovered.

Ed Gein's Original Gravesite

Decided to stop out and see what the current condition of Ed Gein's original gravesite looked like. Thanks for the earlier picture post because that is the only way I probably would have found it. The other Gein family member stones were all in place, but of course Ed's was not there. There was a golfball in its place.

Enter the cemetery from the very southwest corner right off 5th Ave. It will be the first entrance you come to if you are traveling north on 5th Ave from Hwy 73. The first entrance takes you right along the southern tree line of the cemetery. Drive down that path until you come to the third crossroad then turn left (north). Watch to your right and look for an upright gray gravestone for Tibbets between two trees. Stop there and look to the left. You should see 3 similarly shaped headstones facing away from you with a gap in between two of them. Those are the stones of the remaining family members.

Killer Cannibal Ed Gein's Grave

We went to visit Ed Gein's gravestone. There was a guy mowing lawns, so we asked him and he pointed us down 5th Ave about 5 miles go straight past D to a small cemetery on the right. He told us they dug up Ed's grave because of so many "hate" crimes against his stone and the people he murdered were also buried in that cemetery so they moved him.

We went to the other cemetery to find his stone but we found nothing. We did find a "headstone" made of wood in the shape of a cross... I'm thinking this might be his but I'm not sure. These people in this town do NOT like talking about it or giving out any information. The guy we talked to was pretty cool but when we asked the lady at the gas station she was like... "there is nothing to see..."

We're not yet convinced his remains have been moved after 25 years...

Serial Killer Ed Gein's Hometown and Grave

My husband and I visited Plainfield to see the Gein sites. The farm is pretty creepy -- very deserted farm roads. There is a chain link gate and tons of "No Trespassing" signs. His gravestone is still gone, but people have left artificial flowers in place of the headstone. When we visited someone had kicked over his mother's tombstone.
