Three tons and a wingspan of 61 feet, this awesome statue actually turns according to the wind direction! It's in need of repairs and the general store in town has a donation jar, which I did donate to because this is a pretty neat offbeat attraction!

Sumner has an annual Goose Festival every third weekend of October. It's really cool. I go to this every year. They have a gooseberry pie contest.
The goose is named Maxie (which is a female). She is made of fiberglass, and is not just a monument, but has rollers on the bottom, and the beak points the direction in which the wind is blowing.
[Joyce, 06/22/2007]In a park in the midst of a north-central Missouri town is a gigantic Rodan-like goose, as if taking off in flight. It's Maxie the Goose! Supposedly this area is the (self-named) Wild Goose Capital of the World." The funny thing is, when I was visiting, there were indeed hundreds of Canadian geese in V formations in the sky.
