On Pennsylvania Avenue, near Potter Park Zoo in Lansing, is a bridge that has become a local celebrity. It's named Big Penny the Truck Munching Bridge, and she regularly consumes trucks, RVs, and campers that underestimate her height. She now features monster teeth and eyes. She was built in 1928, but in recent years, as vehicles have gotten taller, Penny munches several vehicles a year. While this roadside attraction may not seem like much, Big Penny has become a cultural phenomenon in the Lansing area. We keep track of the vehicles she munches on, and when she's getting hungry.
