Wichita Falls, Texas: Artificial Wichita Falls

A 19th century flood washed away the original falls; this sturdier version, with several drops adding up to 54 feet, was created in 1989. It runs dry when there's not enough water in the Wichita River.

Waterfall.

Hand-made Waterfalls

54 ft. waterfalls alongside interstate 44 -- tourists always asked where the waterfalls are located. The name, Wichita Falls, suggested there must be waterfalls, so collections were taken, and it was built on a hill beside the Wichita River. Also, there are statues of the Wichita Indians going into the river.
