Jackrabbit Trading Post

When I went by the Jackrabbit Trading post last summer, the "Here It Is" sign seemed in much better shape than the picture on RA. It looked like it had recently gotten a new paint job, and, more importantly, the little wooden rabbits running across the top of the sign had been restored. Inside are all the souvenirs you would expect from an Arizona trading post, plus a small one-room museum that includes photographs of some of the previous jackrabbit statues that have been out front. The Jackrabbit Trading Post has been a family business ever since it opened. The current owner bought it in 1980 from his father-in-law, who had taken over the business from his father, the original owner.

Heading eastbound on I-40 from Flagstaff, AZ to Albuquerque, NM there's a great big yellow sign on that side of the highway. It says "HERE IT IS" in biiiig letters with a stylized icon of a jackrabbit. They sell (besides fuels for the car and I) fridge magnets, license plates, and underwear saying HERE IT IS against yellow backgrounds and the rabbit. You can guess where the underwear has the logo printed.

The Jackrabbit Trading Post, Joseph City, AZ, is a souvenir stand noted for its signage. There is a fiberglass jackalope with saddle out front. Store is not so big, not so great, but a landmark right on a drivable strip of Rt. 66 that runs from Joseph City. On our visit, the sign desperately needed a paint job.
