The six-foot-high sun dial is made from quartzite stone. There's a lot of science and math and whatnot happening here. So much so that it is said that you can actually set your watch by the shadow being cast. The top is for summer and the underside is for winter. The original sun dial was installed in 1941 but needed to be replaced after being blown to bits by dynamite in 1965. This one began keeping time on the Spring Equinox 1966.
