Life-size statue of a steer suspended over the entrance to a downtown building for decades. Has been kidnapped several times, but has always been found and returned.

Herbie the Hereford has stood watch over Main Street in Edwardsville since 1947. He's been stolen a few times by students, and the fire department once had to come and rescue someone who climbed to the top of the building in an attempt to ride Herbie. A true downtown icon.
