The Museum of Traffic Control is now in its 10th year of operation, and has experienced a record number of visits in 2015. In 2011 the museum added a HO model railroad display in the center of the exhibit space. The layout depicts in miniature the rail line that used to come through the region, and a fictional history supporting the actual line had it still existed today. Visitors comment that it's fun to watch the trains and animation run on the layout as the signals flash and sequence along the perimeter walls.

The museum of traffic control is now in its 4th year in its new location outside of Pella, Iowa. The Museum features over 100 operating vintage traffic signals and over 300 old highway signs. The signals are powered by actual older electromechanical -- as well as today's more modern -- traffic controllers. Mixed in with the highway signs and signals are old railroad signs, signals, and lanterns.
The sight of over 100 signals sequencing is truly amazing. Over 1700 square feet of traffic control sights and sounds await the visitor to this unique, one-of-a-kind museum.

Museum has moved from Fullerton, California to Pella, Iowa. Pella is located 41 miles SE of Des Moines. "The Museum of Traffic Control" is all indoors. There isn't a signal garden at the present time (too cold!).
