Muffler Man Lumberjack

The Meadow Gold Outpost attributes the origin of its Muffler Man -- "Meadow Gold Mack, The Friendly Lumberjack" -- to a lumber store in Crystal Lake, Illinois.

[Michael L. Phillips, 01/01/2025]

This Muffler Man has also guarded a flea market, another lumber-and-mulch business, and probably other places before that. His Bunyan-size ax is a recent addition; he didn't have one before.

Meadow Gold Mack

Meadow Gold Mack is one of two new giant statues on Route 66 in Tulsa, the other being Stella Atom across the street. Mack is in the classic Muffler Man Bunyan-lumberjack style.

Muffler Man - Lumberjacks

Stopped by to see if the Lumberjacks Muffler Man has reappeared, but he was still MIA. The business there now is Red Oak Tree Service, so they may have no need for the former lumberjack mascot.

Muffler Man - Lumberjacks

My husband and I drove a few hours to tick off three Muffler Men in Crystal Lake but, sadly, only two were there. We followed the directions and matched buildings, and it looks like the Muffler Man outside Lumberjacks has been removed.

Muffler Man - Lumberjacks

Muffler Man looked great, but no longer holds a flag.

[Meg, 04/15/2017]

A firewood business is one of the absolutely logical places for a giant lumberjack to hold a giant ax, so maybe one of these days....
