The mural was a project of members of an El Paso high school art club to bring awareness to endangered species in West Texas, as well as to the global climate crisis. It is 64 feet high and made from 100 percent recycled trash collected by the community. Portuguese artist Bordalo II created the mural. He has created nearly 200 "Big Trash Animals" throughout the world.
