Located at exit 254 on Interstate 70, there is a large bison herd managed by the Parks Department of the City of Denver. The parking areas are open 24/7. The herd is wild, so maybe they'll be in the viewing area, maybe not. This herd is descended from bison from Yellowstone Park.
Please do not harass or tease these magnificent animals.

"Denver's largest bison herd (there are no buffalo in the Americas) may be viewed throughout the year. Denver maintains this herd, and to keep it from getting too large, bison are sent to Native American reservations so they may regrow the natural bison population. This herd originally came from bison which had survived in Yellowstone National Park.
