Granite pillar marks the auction of 429 enslaved people - the largest ever in U.S. history - from a debt-ridden rice plantation on March 2-3, 1859.

Directions:
From Walton St. turn east at the blinker light onto Washington St. Turn right at the first stop sign, then left at the next stop sign. Drive a hundred yards. You'll see the monument on the right, in a grassy lot just past Franklin St. and just before the Masonic Lodge.
