This several-square-block area of Marysville was once known as Third City -- the third largest Chinatown in the U.S. -- with San Francisco and Sacramento being numbers one and two. The 1880 Taoist Bok Kai Temple is directly behind the Silver Dollar Saloon and is only open one weekend per year or by appointment. It abuts the dirt levee making a very odd front entrance! An annual Bok Kai Festival and Parade is held on or around the second day of the second month of the Lunar Calendar (March).
