All the north-south streets in this town have to jog east-west to accommodate the curvature of the earth. This "correction" is celebrated in the town name, and with an appropriately off-kilter midtown monument.

Correctionville gets its name from a surveying term that requires periodic jogs in plot lines to account for the curvature of the earth. All of the north-south streets in town jog east-west at 5th Street. There's a monument explaining all of this and, ironically, a typo in the bronze plaque text that requires correction.
