Free Time Hobbies has sold their building, along with Mr. Hobby, to a dental business. Presumably Mr. Hobby's hand-held P-51 model airplane will be replaced by.... a toothbrush?

The location is not actually open for retail business, which seems kinda odd. But the Muffler Man is in terrific shape as of Dec 2018. Easy to get to, and plenty of parking for taking pictures. The P-51 Mustang fighter plane he is holding has terrific details.

Mr. Hobby has arrived at Free Time Hobbies! This "muffler man" was built in the early 1960s. He stood for about 50 years atop Ced's Mufflers in Chicago. Free Time Hobbies purchased him last year and had him restored. Instead of a muffler, Mr. Hobby holds a P-51 Model Airplane.

During a harsh Chicago wind storm in 2010, Mr. Bendo of Ced's Muffler Shop lost the upper portion of his body. The guys at the shop set the broken portion next to the shop, and within a few days his head went missing.
It's going on 2 years now that our neighborhood icon has only been half the man he used to be. Is there anyone we could turn to for help?
